AGRICULTURE & RURAL DEVELOPMENT
Agriculture is a main source of income and employment for a major portion of the population in developing countries including Egypt. Recognizing the importance of agricultural development to poverty alleviation, ENTRUST was contracted by the UNDP to design and conduct the baseline investigation for the Pro-Poor Horticulture Value Chains in Upper Egypt Project. ENTRUST was also involved in the introduction of new agricultural techniques in Egypt where we assessed the market potential of hydroponic agriculture. ENTRUST was also involved in agribusiness support; starting with agribusiness value chain assessments to cluster development efforts. Our interest in supporting the rural population also extended to cover the provision of health insurance services to small farmers and agricultural workers. ENTRUST conducted a scoping study to assess the feasibility of extending health insurance to the rural population of Kom Ombo in Aswan.
